Actor Suniel Shetty is glowing with pride as his son-in-law, cricket star KL Rahul, played a brilliant century against England during the Test match played at Headingley Stadium in Leeds.
Going onto Instagram, Suniel shared a picture of Rahul from the match and captioned it, "A knock that spoke less, but said everything Proud of you son KL Rahul."
The actor didn't stop there—he even cheered for star player Rishabh Pant, who followed Rahul's footsteps by scoring 118 runs in the second innings, having clocked up 134 runs in the first. With this achievement, Pant became the first Indian to achieve centuries in both innings of a Test match in England.
Suniel praised Pant's game with a caption that read: "Two innings. Two centuries. One fearless heart. Rishabh Pant."
Another post by Shetty referenced a popular anecdote demonstrating KL Rahul's language skills. The note read, "Rahul talked to Sai in Tamil, Pant in Hindi and Karun Nair in Kannada. Post stumps, he'll converse with the broadcasters in English." To this, Suniel just replied: "Proudly Indian."
Courtesy of masterful hundreds by KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, India strengthened their hold on the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, as they extended their total lead past the 300-run mark on June 23.
During the tea break, India was at 298/4 in 75 overs in their second innings, with the lead comfortably placed at 304 runs. The session recorded 145 runs in the score, as Rahul and Pant made the most of a degenerating ball and an England team that had run out of solutions.
Rahul showed his signature cool, unbeaten on 120—his ninth Test hundred—built with 15 well-timed boundaries. Pant, in contrast, played with typical aggression, hammering 118 with support from 15 boundaries and three towering sixes—his eighth Test century in total.
Earlier this impressive 195-run partnership at Headingley, the Rahul-Pant combination had also taken a century stand at The Oval in 2018. With his recent feat, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper—and fifth Indian batter overall—to record twin hundreds in a Test match away from India.
