Social media was abuzz on Friday night with reports of India Test skipper Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh being blessed with a baby boy. Scores of posts by several handles are making claims, though there is no post on the official handle of Rohit Sharma.
The post read, "Ritika and Rohit Sharma blessed with a baby boy! Congratulations to the dear couple!", "Jr Hitman has arrived", "The junior hitman has arrived…Rohit blessed with a baby boy", said the posts on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday night. Thousands of cricket fanatics on social media flooded on Friday to congratulate the couple on the new arrival in their life.
There were no more details like the date when the baby was born, but the news became a buzz topic on the social media channels. Rohit and Ritika have a daughter, who will complete six years on December 30.
Confirming the new addition to his family, Rohit Sharma had hinted when he said that he was still unsure about playing the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia that starts in Perth on November 22.
Sharma was non-committal on his availability for the Perth Test citing personal reasons, he said in the post-match press conference after India suffered a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium earlier this month.
In between congratulatory messages for Rohit Sharma and his wife, were also posts expressing relief that the India captain would be available for the Perth Test.
But then, one would have to await confirmation from either Rohit Sharma or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his availability for the Perth Test.
