Speaking to 'JIO Cinema,' Dube expressed, "When I stepped in to bat, my aim was to execute the lessons learned from MS Dhoni on closing out games. I frequently converse with Mahi bhai, who guides me on handling diverse situations, offering valuable tips, and evaluating my batting. His endorsement boosts my confidence, leading to improved performances."

Dube's return to the Indian side follows his previous appearance in the Asian Games at Hangzhou last year. Despite being part of the squad for the home T20I series against Australia, he remained benched and was excluded from the away series against South Africa.

Acknowledging shades of Dhoni's influence in Rohit Sharma's captaincy, Dube praised both leaders for providing him the opportunity to bat higher in the order, fostering a positive outlook. He underlined his appreciation for their unwavering support and belief in his abilities.

In addition to his batting prowess, Dube showcased his bowling skills, securing the crucial wicket of Afghan captain Ibrahim Zadran (25 off 22 balls). Reflecting on his bowling development, he mentioned, "The improvements weren't sudden. I dedicated the off-season to enhancing my fitness and bowled extensively in domestic cricket, refining my skills. I found the right areas and generated decent pace."

Looking ahead, the 30-year-old Mumbaikar cautiously expressed optimism about earning a spot in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup scheduled in June. He shared his aspirations, saying, "Contributing to and aiding my country in winning is a dream for every cricketer. While selection for the World Cup is in the back of my mind, I prefer taking it one step at a time, recognizing there's ample time ahead."
