In the wake of India's successful ICC Men's Champions Trophy run, skipper Rohit Sharma has moved into third position in the ODI batting rankings, which are still topped by his opening partner Shubman Gill.
India won their third Champions Trophy crown in a heart-stopping four-wicket win against New Zealand in Dubai. The latest rankings list, issued on Wednesday, reflects the standout individual performances of star players from both teams.
Rohit, who scored a match-winning 76 off 83 balls in the final, moved two places to reach third position in the rankings. His brilliant innings fetched him the Player of the Match award. Virat Kohli, who scored 218 runs during the tournament, continues to stay in the top five at No.5.
New Zealand batsmen also improved their rankings. Daryl Mitchell moved up one position to reach the sixth position, and the young and promising Rachin Ravindra jumped 14 places to 14th. Glenn Phillips also improved, moving six places to 24th.
On the bowling side, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner turned in a great performance, claiming nine wickets during the tournament, two of which were in the final. His work has elevated him six positions higher to No.2 in the ODI bowling table, with Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana just ahead of him. Another Kiwi bowler, Michael Bracewell, also climbed 10 positions higher to place at No.18.
India's spin pair, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, improved their rankings after their vital contributions to India's unbeaten streak in the tournament. Kuldeep, who took seven wickets, rose to No.3, while Jadeja, who took five wickets, moved to 10th.
Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai still occupies the number one spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings. But the Champions Trophy brought a stir just below him, and Mitchell Santner moved to fourth place. Michael Bracewell advanced to seventh, and Rachin Ravindra claimed the eighth place following their impressive all-round efforts.
