Reports Suggest Suryakumar Yadav to Lead India in T20Is Against Australia

Scheduled to kick off on November 23 in Vizag and wrap up in Hyderabad on December 3, the five-match T20 series might see Yadav stepping into the captain's role.

As Hardik Pandya continues to recover from an ankle injury, reports suggest that Suryakumar Yadav could potentially lead India in the upcoming T20 home series against Australia.

Scheduled to kick off on November 23 in Vizag and wrap up in Hyderabad on December 3, the five-match T20 series might see Yadav stepping into the captain's role. Pandya's absence due to the injury sustained during the 2023 World Cup indicates a recovery period of at least two months, ruling him out of not just this series but also the three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa.

Yadav has previously taken on the role of vice-captain during India's tour of the West Indies, where he featured prominently in five T20 matches across the Caribbean and the US. His leadership experience extends to leading both the Mumbai team and the India Under-23 squad in the Emerging Cup a few years back.

With Rahul Dravid's contract concluding post the ODI World Cup, the BCCI has reportedly approached VVS Laxman to serve as a temporary coach for the Indian team in an interim capacity. Alongside this, the support staff from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) is expected to oversee the team during this transitional period, as per the report.
