Tech giants Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, and others celebrated India's thrilling victory over South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Saturday.
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared his excitement on X, saying, "What a game, could barely breathe, everything that makes sports incredible. Congrats India, so well deserved! SA was incredible. Amazing."
Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella also extended his congratulations, stating, "What a final. Congrats, India, and well played, South Africa. Super World Cup... let's have more cricket in the West Indies and USA."
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, asked ChatGPT to create a graphic image depicting the Indian cricket team as superheroes. He posted on X, "Because they were SuperCool till the end. The greatest gift of this final to India was that it didn’t come easy. It almost slipped out of their grasp. But they never lost the match in their minds."
He added, "Reminding all of us that being a Superhero never comes without a fierce determination to win and a Never Give In attitude. Jai Ho!"
Earlier in the match, standout performances by Hardik Pandya, with 3-20, and Jasprit Bumrah, with 2-18, were crucial in helping India secure their second T20 World Cup title with a seven-run victory at Kensington Oval.
Star batter Virat Kohli ended his lean streak with a 59-ball 76, guiding India to a competitive total of 176/7, the highest score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final. Kohli's 72-run partnership with Axar Patel (47 off 31 balls) and a 57-run stand with Shivam Dube (27 off 16 balls) were pivotal in pushing India's score past 175, with 42 runs coming from the last three overs.
In response, South Africa seemed poised to chase down the target. However, Hardik Pandya's dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen turned the tide, allowing India to clinch the win and end an 11-year global trophy drought, restricting South Africa to 169/8.
