Young pace sensation Mayank Yadav continued his impressive run with another stellar performance in the IPL, marking his second consecutive match-winning spell. Despite his phenomenal start in the tournament, the 21-year-old remains focused on his ultimate goal – earning a spot in the Indian cricket team.
Claiming back-to-back Player of the Match awards in his debut season, Mayank has quickly become the standout discovery of the season. Nevertheless, he views the IPL as a stepping stone towards his larger ambition of representing his country.
Expressing his satisfaction after LSG's triumph over RCB, Mayank emphasized his aspiration to don the Indian jersey. "I feel really good about receiving two Player of the Match awards in two matches. What matters more is that we emerged victorious in both games. My ultimate goal is to play for my country. This is just the beginning for me, and I particularly relished dismissing Cameron Green," he remarked.
His impressive haul of three crucial wickets against RCB, including the prized scalps of Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Rajat Patidar, showcased his prowess with the ball. Having endured a setback due to injury in the previous season, Mayank acknowledges the paramount importance of fitness in sustaining his rapid bowling.
"The key to bowling fast involves various factors such as diet, sleep, and rigorous training. I am paying meticulous attention to my diet and recovery methods, including ice baths," Mayank revealed.
LSG skipper K L Rahul lauded Mayank's remarkable temperament and blistering pace, highlighting his invaluable contributions to the team. Mayank's intimidating pace troubled the batters of both Punjab Kings and RCB, earning him consecutive three-wicket hauls.
While facing Mayank's deliveries proved daunting for even his own captain, Rahul expressed admiration for the young cricketer's dedication and professionalism. "Mayank has been exceptional with his bowling. Despite facing a delivery that struck me hard, I am delighted to witness his remarkable performance.
