Malaysia Masters: Chinese shuttlers Lu, Chen reach semifinals

In the men's singles, Lu Guangzu got the better of his compatriot Li Shifeng 21-14, 21-16 to reach the last-four stage. Olympic champion Chen Yufei outclassed Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-18, and 22-20 to reach the women's singles semifinals.

Chinese shuttlers continued their success at the Malaysia Masters 2022 here on Friday, taking one semifinal spot in each of the five categories.

In the men's singles, Lu Guangzu got the better of his compatriot Li Shifeng 21-14, 21-16 to reach the last-four stage. Olympic champion Chen Yufei outclassed Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-18, and 22-20 to reach the women's singles semifinals.

Men's doubles duo Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang overcame its second-seeded Japanese opponents Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi 21-14, 18-21, 21-18, reports Xinhua.

In the women's doubles, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan won over their teammates Du Yue/Li Wenmei 21-15, 21-13.

Mixed doubles pair Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong pulled off a decisive 21-10, 21-14 victory over local duo Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie.

As another Chinese mixed doubles pair, Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping withdrew from the competition, so their opponents enjoyed a walkover.

The other men's singles semifinal will be played between India's HS Prannoy and Chico Aura DWI Wardoyo of Indonesia.
