Swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav has exuded joy after being appointed captain of the Indian T20 side, which is set to tour Sri Lanka soon, terming it nothing but a dream come true in the ongoing moment of time over the past few weeks.

"Thank you so much for the outpouring of love, support, and best wishes. The last few weeks have been nothing short of a dream, and I am truly grateful," posted Suryakumar on his Instagram account.

"Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. With this new role, it brings a huge amount of responsibility, excitement, and enthusiasm. I do hope to get your continuous support and blessings on this journey. All fame reaches God; God is great," Suryakumar added.

The 33-year-old Suryakumar will lead in T20s in place of Rohit Sharma, with Shubman Gill his deputy that in the series will be played in Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old Gill was bur recently appointed as the vice-captain for the matches' formats of ODIs and T20Is, replacing Hardik Pandya.

Suryakumar was one of the most influential players for India last month as they won the T20 World Cup, catching the eye with his splendid catch in the final against South Africa. Pandya, however, is an important player and will be part of the T20I squad in the upcoming series.
