Sunrisers Hyderabad is reportedly gearing up to release England batsman Harry Brook ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Brook, who debuted for SRH in IPL 2023 after a significant bid of INR 13.25 crore, faced challenges in performance, accumulating 190 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 140, with only one century.
The recent IPL seasons have been tough for Sunrisers Hyderabad, struggling to secure a top-four spot and finishing at the bottom of the points table in the previous season, winning only four out of 14 league matches.
By releasing Brook, SRH aims to boost their budget by INR 13.25 crore for the upcoming auction, allowing them to pursue fresh and promising talents, as per reports from Cricbuzz.
Additionally, the report mentioned the potential release of England all-rounder Sam Curran by Punjab Kings due to his subpar performance in IPL 2023. Curran, who was bought for a record 18.5 crore, might face release after a disappointing run.
The IPL 2024 auction is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, with 590 players shortlisted for consideration. Notably, the preliminary list includes ten players from Jammu & Kashmir, indicating a diverse pool of talent for the upcoming auction.
