The IPL 2025 will start on March 21, and Eden Gardens will host both the tournament opener and the final on May 25.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the WPL 2025 will take place from February 7 to March 2. In an unprecedented move ahead of the mega auction in November, the IPL shared the windows for the next three seasons (2025-27) with the franchises.
The window set for 2025 was from March 15 to May 25.
With the Champions Trophy final scheduled on March 9, the IPL decided to stick to a nearly two-week gap and set a start date on March 21. The complete schedule of IPL is expected later this month.
The defending champions' home venue will again play host to both the opener and the final. This year, Eden Gardens will host it as the home ground of Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the IPL 2024.
The 2025 season will include 74 games, the same as the previous three seasons. However, it is ten less than the 84 games the IPL's 2022 media rights tender included for the 2023-27 cycle.
The tender was talking about differing match numbers by season: 74 games each for 2023 and 2024; 84 games each for 2025 and 2026; and as many as 94 games for 2027.
The BCCI has decided to introduce two new venues for the 2025 WPL, along with Mumbai and Bengaluru. The league will also be held in Baroda and Lucknow this year. The exact number of matches at each venue is yet to be confirmed, as the WPL schedule is yet to be announced.
