Corbin made sure the day became even more memorable. Coming in towards the close of the Mumbai Indians' innings, he smashed a rapid-fire 20 runs off just 10 deliveries. His quick cameo, coupled with an unbeaten 25 from Naman Dhir, helped MI post a strong total of 215/7. To top it off, Corbin claimed his first IPL wicket, delivering a perfect yorker to rattle Ravi Bishnoi’s middle stump.

"I got the confirmation early this morning from Mahela (MI head coach Jayawardene). Super thrilled with it. It is a really special moment for me. It just so happens to be my brother's birthday, and what a special day to make my MI debut," was Corbin.

A right-arm pacer and right-hand middle-order batsman, Corbin has 86 T20 games of experience in which he has picked 59 wickets and a top score of 81. His best moment at the start of his career was in 2014 when, playing as part of the South Africa U-19 team which won the World Cup, he provided the decisive role in the final with an amazing 4-15 spell for which he was awarded the Player of the Match. Corbin has been a regular in all formats at home since then and represented South Africa in their senior international side in 2024.

Earlier in the season, Corbin was a key player for MI Cape Town when they claimed the 2025 SA20 championship, taking 11 wickets along the way. Looking back on his IPL debut, Corbin admitted that he was as nervous as a rabbit when he emerged onto the field.

It was largely a question of hitting the ball with the bat. I was so nervous, I just wanted to hit the ball," he said.

The all-rounder also reflected on his commitment to improving his bowling and his adaptability to play any role as a batsman.

I've left everything that I have (to his bowling). And even here at MI as well, they are giving me a lot of support. I am just happy to bat wherever the team would prefer me to bat. I will bat and support the team. So proud and happy and honored to be a part of such a historic moment," he said.
