Fifties from B Sai Sudharsan and David Miller, the efforts went unrewarded as Delhi Capitals clinched a thrilling victory over Gujarat Titans by a narrow margin of four runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Captaining the side from the front, Captain Rishabh Pant showed his mettle with an unbeaten 88 off just 43 deliveries, assisted well by Axar Patel's aggressive 66 off 43 balls, pushing DC to a formidable total of 224/4. Although the overall tally runs appeared a daunting target, GT showed commendable run-scoring prowess with Sudharsan's 65 and Miller's 55 keeping them in the chase.
As early as the second ball of the game, Shubman Gill was on the run after attempting a mis-timed lofted shot off the bowling of Anrich Nortje. But Wriddhiman Saha and Sudharsan capitalized on the power-play, accumulating boundaries and scoring at a brisk pace. The South African opener, despite being given a lifeline early on, capitalized on his luck, showcasing exquisite strokes before eventually reaching his fifty in 29 deliveries.
But GT lost important wickets at regular intervals due to the bowling of Axar Patel that proved very effective. On the other hand, the breathtaking innings of Miller was not enough to help GT chase the target. In the final over, Rashid Khan tried hard, but DC managed to hold their nerves and emerge victorious.
In a match filled with thrilling moments, Delhi Capitals came on top, with a collective team effort and exquisite performances under pressure.
