According to the BCCI, India will visit Sri Lanka in July and August for three T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals. The matches will take place in Pallekele and Colombo.
The T20I games are going to start the tour on July 26, 27, and 29 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Thereafter, the ODIs will take place on August 1, 4, and 7 in Colombo at the R Premadasa International Stadium.
On the road ahead, it will be the guiding hand of new head coach Gautam Gambhir, in place of the former coach, Rahul Dravid, under whose leadership the side emerged as champions in the T20 World Cup in the Americas. For company, Sri Lanka will have a new coach in Sanath Jayasuriya, replacing Chris Silverwood.
Though India has not announced their squad for the series, according to the reports from PTI on July 8, key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to be rested from the entire action. The T20I team is said to be led by Hardik Pandya with KL Rahul likely to captain the ODI team.
The skipper of Wanindu Hasaranga, on the Sri Lankan side, has stepped down from captaincy, thereby making an appointment for a new skipper as the federation took lessons by losing the T20 World Cup at the group stages.
The tour is India's first bilateral white-ball series in Sri Lanka since 2021, when Dravid was interim coach and Shikhar Dhawan was the captain of a second-string side that comfortably won both the T20I and ODI rubbers.
