India, a formidable force in home cricket, refuses to label themselves as "unbeatable," according to Captain Rohit Sharma. Ahead of the first Test against England starting on Thursday, Rohit emphasized the need for consistent cricket to overcome the English challenge. India has maintained an unbeaten streak at home for the past 12 years, with the last team to defeat them on their home turf being England in 2012 under Alastair Cook.
Rohit, during a pre-match press conference, highlighted that past records do not guarantee success in the current series, stating, "I don't think we are unbeatable. We don’t want to think like that. But whatever past records that we have over the last decade or so, do not guarantee that we will come out on top in this series. We have to play well to win this series."
Reflecting on India's recent victory over South Africa in the second Test at Cape Town, Rohit acknowledged that the win has instilled confidence in the team. However, he emphasized the distinct conditions and opposition they will face against England in Hyderabad. Despite the positive momentum from the Cape Town triumph, Rohit underlined the importance of approaching each series with a fresh mindset.
As India prepares for the series against England, the team aims to build on the confidence gained from recent successes while acknowledging the challenges posed by a new opponent and varied playing conditions.
