The 42-second video had the audio from Virat Kohli's speech from the felicitation ceremony following the parade, in which the former captain was seen praising the crucial contributions of Bumrah. Kohli had lauded Bumrah's performance throughout the tournament, saying he, along with Hardik Pandya, turned the final match against South Africa.

Bumrah and Pandya came back for their second spell in the final when South Africa needed 30 runs from 30 balls. Their fine bowling proved too good for South Africa, who fell seven runs short and confirmed India's second-ever T20 World Cup and the first in 17 years.

"What I would like everyone to do is to applaud a guy who brought us back into games again, and again, and again. It was phenomenal. He is a once in a generation bowler. I am so glad he plays for us," Kohli, who retired from T20 Internationals at the end of the World Cup, had said.

Recently returned to his Ahmedabad home, Bumrah was showered with flower petals, which were in effect a showering of love from the country swooning over such brilliance he has been bringing out on the international field.
