Team India opener Shubman Gill now sits at the second spot of the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters. Gill has now set his sights on Pakistan’s Babar Azam for the individual top ranking and trails by just five points after his heroic innings against England at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Although Babar Azam remains at number one, Gill's performance, especially his blistering knock of 112 runs in the third ODI, has lessened the gap significantly between him and the number one ranking.
Shubman Gill Moves To 2nd Spot In ICC ODI Rankings
Team India recently defeated England in One-Day Internationals as they completed a series whitewash during Ahmedabads Narendra Modi Stadium ODI. Tracer bullet: Shubman Gill was in unbelievable shape, being influential with the bat in all three matches. A match-winning 112-run innings in the third ODI was his 7th career ODI century, but with it also came blood on the walls for records being broken and a new charge up the ODI batter rankings to the second spot on that list too.
India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma also made a jump in the rankings, moving to third after a splendid ton at Cuttack.
His 119-run innings in Barabati Stadium came as an excellent reply to the critics and also helped him to regain form again before World Cup 2023, which is to take place in Pakistan and the UAE - the ICC Champions Trophy.
While Rohit rejuvenated his rhythm with a century in Cuttack, a combination of one run in the final ODI match in Ahmedabad cut short his recent spree.
India- captained by Rohit Sharma- will Fly Off To Dubai, Where The Matches Are Going To Be Held At The Dubai International Stadium, Starting With The Opener Against Bangladesh.
