Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recently announced that England all-rounder Ben Stokes won't be participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The management of Chennai Super Kings expressed support for Stokes' decision, understanding the significance of managing his workload, especially with England scheduled for a demanding 5-Test series in India before the IPL, followed by the T20 World Cup in June 2024.

Stokes made his IPL debut with Rising Supergiant in 2017, bagging a significant deal at INR 14.5 crore, becoming the most expensive foreign player at that time. His initial IPL season showcased his prowess, scoring 316 runs in 12 matches with an impressive strike rate of 142.98.

Throughout his IPL journey of 45 matches, Stokes has contributed 935 runs and secured 28 wickets. However, he was limited to just two matches in the last season due to an injury.

There's speculation within the CSK camp about considering New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell as a potential replacement for Stokes, suggesting possible lineup adjustments ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
