End of an Era: Shikhar Dhawan Announces Retirement from All Forms of Cricket

Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian cricketer, had a glorious cricket career of more than a decade. Finally, he decided to say goodbye to all international cricket formats and the Indian Premier League.

Making his international debut in 2010, Dhawan became a vital cog in the Indian cricketing set-up, having a reputation for his blazing strokeplay along with a charismatic personality both on and off the field. He has been part of many significant wins for India in all the three formats over the years.

In a confirmed manner, Dhawan expressed his thanksgiving and excitement about the future: "Representing my country on the international stage has been an incredible honor for me in my cricket journey, and wearing the Indian jersey will always hold a special place in my heart. "I feel deeply obliged & thankful to everyone who has been my backbone in this beautiful experience—my family, my relatives & friends, teammates, coaches, and, most importantly, a very big thanks to the loving fans who have been an incredible part of my journey and my life."

Shikhar has been a key player for India and various IPL teams. His fabulous career climax reached the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, where his brilliant showmanship and performance won him the prestigious "Mr. ICC" tag as the best player of the tournament. His dynamic innings and vital contributions went a long way in India's victories in the said format. He has been the first cricketer to hit back-to-back centuries in the IPL and holds the record for hitting the most fours in the IPL. While no other player has been accorded this privilege, he has captained simultaneously for both Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

Dhawan, on this short interim personally and professionally busy, prepares himself to get busy with his business ventures with "DaOne Group," taking over the ownership of the Delhi Premier League team, South Delhi Superstars.
