Dwayne Bravo to Retire After CPL 2024

An emotional announcement by the 40-year-old Trinidadian all-rounder came just hours before his team, Trinbago Knight Riders, took to the field for its opening game of CPL 2024 against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in Basseterre.

Dwayne Bravo, the most successful bowler ever in T20 cricket, announced his retirement from the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, with the end of season 2024.

An emotional announcement by the 40-year-old Trinidadian all-rounder came just hours before his team, Trinbago Knight Riders, took to the field for its opening game of CPL 2024 against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in Basseterre.

Bravo took to Instagram to announce this news to his fans and looked back at his journey, adding that he is excited to play his last professional tournament in the Caribbean.

"It's been a great journey and looking forward to playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean people," Bravo wrote. "TKR is the place where everything started for me and will end with my team."

No wonder, the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, Bravo's career has been no less than spectacular. Whatever way one looks at it, the significant improvement in the CPL has been pretty much inspired by him. At the moment, he leads with the most wickets in the league-128 wickets from 103 matches-with a bowling average of 22.40 and an economy rate of 8.69 underlining more substance of his utility in the shortest format of the game. Bravo has also chipped in with the bat in this tournament, making 1155 runs.
