Cummins Feels Australia Forged Its Own Legacy After World Cup Triumph

Reflecting on their triumph, Cummins, upon landing at Sydney Airport, emphasized the team's creation of a unique legacy.

Pat Cummins, the captain of the victorious Australian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup, believes that their remarkable win has etched a career-defining legacy after an extensive six-month journey in India and England.

Reflecting on their triumph, Cummins, upon landing at Sydney Airport, emphasized the team's creation of a unique legacy. "They've forged their own legacy. The World Cup comes around only once in four years, especially playing in a challenging place like India; it's demanding," Cummins remarked.

Acknowledging his team's resilience, Cummins admitted to initial doubts following Australia's losses to India and South Africa. "To be honest, I thought our chances were slim. It was almost do-or-die. We felt we had to be flawless to reach the semis. And we nearly were. We found ways to win, even on our off days," he revealed.

Highlighting the challenges of playing ODI cricket in India, Cummins expressed immense satisfaction at emerging victorious against top competitors. "Before the tournament, we knew the difficulties of ODI cricket in India. It's a tough task. To compete against the world and return with a medal, it's as good as it gets. We couldn't have asked for much more. It's a contented group," Cummins added.
