Anil Kumble Observes Decline in Rashid Khan’s Wicket-Taking in IPL 2025

Rashid is enduring one of his most disappointing IPL seasons with nine wickets in 14 games at a high average of 53.66 and economy rate of 9.47. "When things haven't taken off for GT in those initial six overs, the pressure on the bowling attack has been fairly evident. That's where the Rashid ball-taking talent is kind of missing these days, and that's why they're likely struggling," Kumble said to ESPNcricinfo.

Former Indian captain Anil Kumble has noted that Gujarat Titans' leg-spinner Rashid Khan seems to be having trouble with his wicket-taking ability, which has been aiding the team's struggles in their bowling unit.

Having represented Royal Challengers Bangalore previously and now being a mentor for RCB as well as Mumbai Indians, Kumble emphasized how crucial it would be for the Shubman Gill-captained Gujarat Titans to stay calm while entering the latter half of the competition.

Even though Gujarat Titans already had a playoff spot, they have lately lost two games in succession to Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings. "I believe what was crucial too was also to reflect upon all the positive things that they've done to get here."

"There were ten teams, and everybody was just as good. Yes, the points table will have it that Chennai (CSK) is No. 10, and then there's nine with Rajasthan (RR), and the rest of them. But overall, if you have it on paper, all of those teams are very, very good. It's just that one game here, there, things could have been otherwise."

"So, you must celebrate that and then see if it is Qualifier or Eliminator, whatever it is, one game at a time. Ponder over that and then see how good the team played during those crucial moments and try and win those crucial moments," he added.
