Trinamool's Election Campaign Kickoff: Mega Rally in Kolkata Set for March 10

The party's leader and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, along with party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, will be the key speakers at the event.

West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress has announced its plan to kick off the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with a grand rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on March 10.

The party's leader and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, along with party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, will be the key speakers at the event.

Insiders suggest that the leadership, including both Banerjees, will primarily address the issue of pending central dues to the state government, focusing on central-sponsored schemes like the 100-day job scheme under MGNREGA and the housing scheme under PMAY.

This rally echoes a similar large-scale event organized by Trinamool before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, which saw participation from top leaders of national and regional parties.

Coincidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also slated to visit West Bengal in March, likely addressing a rally in North 24 Parganas district on either March 6 or March 7. It is anticipated that he will address recent developments in Sandeshkhali, where local women accused Trinamool leaders of sexual harassment and violence.

Political analysts view Trinamool's decision to hold their mega rally on March 10 as strategic, intending to counter the issues raised by the Prime Minister during his visit.
