The Karnataka government made the decision on Friday to transfer the Pocso case involving former chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa to the specialized wing of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Sources indicate that the victim underwent a medical examination, and her statement is expected to be recorded soon. The mother of a minor girl initiated the case of alleged sexual misconduct against Yediyurappa at the Sadashivanagar police station in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara mentioned being informed about the complainant's mental instability and assured that the case would be handled with sensitivity.
Yediyurappa himself stated his readiness to cooperate with the legal process.
The veteran BJP leader refrained from labeling the developments as politically motivated, stating that it's premature to draw such conclusions.
Additionally, former Karnataka law minister and BJP member, J.C. Madhuswamy, commented on the discretion of the police in Pocso cases, highlighting that arrest isn't mandatory and may be avoided to prevent potential evidence tampering.
