The third charge sheet filed by the SIT in the sexual assault case involving former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna is distressing and unflattering about his conduct against the girl. The charge sheet has claimed Prajwal forced the victim to wear lingerie of his choice and laugh during the assault. This 1,691-page document submits itself to the Special Court for MLAs/MPs; in it, the statement of the victim recounts that Prajwal raped her several times at gunpoint and later filmed the assaults and took screenshots of nude videos. Police sources say that all along Prajwal wanted the victim to laugh and not cry during the attacks that kept happening over three years from 2020 to 2023. There is one incident reported wherein Prajwal had made a call to the victim's residence and taken her to his Holenarasipura residence, where he reportedly assaulted her in a room on the third floor. He recorded videos of the assaults every time and blackmailed her to keep quiet.
An MLA and a witness to the case also told the story of how he attended an event where Prajwal and the victim were present. He said that after attending the event, Prajwal was calling the victim continuously and asking her to come to a guest house.
The SIT questioned over 120 witnesses and took the statements of the victim. Prajwal has been booked under various sections, including Section 376 (2) N (repeated rape), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 354 (A) (1) (sexual harassment), Section 354 (B) (use of criminal force on a woman), and Section 354 (C) (voyeurism), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
The Karnataka High Court has posted for hearing on September 19 the bail plea filed by Prajwal.
