Shivakumar Affirms High Command's Authority on Karnataka CM Change Speculation

To Vokkaliga seer Chandrashekara Swamiji's demand for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation to make way for Shivakumar, he said the demand is accepted but would not elaborate. To Minister K.N. Rajanna's report of voluntary resignation as a minister to take over as the president of Karnataka Congress, Shivakumar said he will react to it later, saying, "He will get a suitable response."

Once again, amidst all speculations of a possible change of guard in the State, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday reiterated that he would abide by whatever the Congress high command decides. Mr. Shivakumar told reporters in Delhi:  “Some people are over-enthusiastic. But we should not take them seriously. The party's decision will be final.”

Shivakumar has said that in his visit to the national capital, he met newly-elected MPs from the state of Karnataka to discuss pending Central projects of a critical nature to be implemented in this state. He wants to raise state issues and build pressure on the Centre to accord priority to Karnataka's interests.
