The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a bail plea by the Karnataka sensational sex video case prime accused and former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is the grandson of former PM H D Deve Gowda.
Mukul Rohtagi, a senior advocate representing Revanna, said that enemies hatched a conspiracy only for the sake of getting some political advantage. "I was an MP, I was fighting MP election and I lost all due to this, I told my brother he's also filed charge sheet, so four months has gone and is in jail.".
Refusing to entertain the matter, a bench headed by Justice Bela M. Trivedi dismissed Revanna's special leave petition seeking bail. Further, the bench comprising also Justice S.C. Sharma said that it would not pass any order granting liberty to apply afresh for bail after a period of six months.
In an order passed on October 21, Karnataka High Court had dismissed the bail petition filed by Revanna in connection with two cases of rape and one case of recording the video of a sexual harassment victim.
Four cases are pending against Prajwal Revanna in connection with the sex video scandal.
One is Hassan rape case against Prajwal Revanna in the Bengaluru Cyber police station. In this, the bail has already been rejected by the trial court. The second is a case of sexual assault on the maid engaged at the farmhouse in Holenarasipura.
The disturbing video of the incident has gone viral on social media during the Lok Sabha election, with the footage of the aged maid pleading with him to spare her as she is an elderly lady who served food to his father and other elders of the family as she was sexually assaulted.
He was abducted when the video appeared on social media, when Revanna's father and JD-S MLA H.D. Revanna had already been arrested by the police. He is currently out on conditional bail.
In the case, an arrest warrant had also been issued against Prajwal's mother Bhavani Revanna. But she was able to obtain anticipatory bail. The bail order was challenged in the Supreme Court by the Special Investigation Team, which confirmed the bail order that had been granted by Karnataka High Court.
The other case pertains to forcing a woman from Hassan to strip and recording her video when she approached Revanna for admission for her son to a reputed school. Both cases were registered at the Cyber police station in Bengaluru.
