In a fervent address at a massive public gathering in Mandya, Karnataka, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of governing solely for the benefit of a select few at the expense of the broader populace. Emphasizing the contrasting ideologies at play in the upcoming elections, Gandhi underscored the Congress party's commitment to serving the interests of all segments of society, particularly the marginalized such as farmers and the underprivileged.
Drawing a sharp dichotomy between the Congress and its adversaries, Gandhi asserted that while his party upholds the principles of democracy enshrined in the Constitution, the BJP and its ideological parent, the RSS, are undermining democratic institutions by consolidating power among a privileged few.
Propounding the Congress's agenda, Gandhi outlined key initiatives aimed at empowering various sections of society, notably farmers. Promising a legally mandated minimum support price for agricultural produce and expedited settlement of insurance claims, he underscored the party's dedication to alleviating the plight of farmers burdened by debt.
Highlighting the pivotal role of women in nation-building, Gandhi pledged substantial financial assistance to female-headed households, aiming to foster gender equality and economic empowerment. Additionally, he unveiled ambitious welfare schemes, including substantial cash transfers to impoverished families and the establishment of a robust minimum wage policy to safeguard the rights of workers.
Reflecting on past commitments, Gandhi proudly declared that the Congress had fulfilled its promises made during the Karnataka Assembly polls, signaling the party's unwavering commitment to delivering on its electoral pledges.
In the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Congress has nominated Venkataramane Gowda, popularly known as Star Chandru, as its candidate from Mandya constituency, underscoring the party's determination to secure a mandate rooted in the principles of inclusivity and social justice.
