Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence on Tuesday that the seat-sharing issues among the INDIA bloc partners will be resolved, emphasizing that the coalition will defeat the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. During a press conference in Nagaland as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Gandhi stated that there is mutual respect and affection among the leaders of the INDIA bloc, describing it as an ideological formation opposed to the RSS and BJP.
Gandhi addressed ongoing discussions about seat sharing, stating that the talks are progressing well and expressing confidence in their resolution. He downplayed reports of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar being upset after the last INDIA bloc meeting, asserting that the media tends to overplay such matters and overlook the positive atmosphere and camaraderie during coalition meetings.
Highlighting the INDIA bloc as an ideological formation against the BJP-RSS, Gandhi affirmed his confidence in overcoming the bloc's minor issues and uniting to fight and defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections. Talks about seat sharing have been ongoing, with Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal being areas of contention among the coalition partners.
Gandhi expressed optimism about the INDIA bloc's chances in the Lok Sabha polls, anticipated to be held in April-May. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Gandhi, commenced in Thoubal, Manipur, on January 14, reaching Nagaland on Monday. The yatra is set to cover 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states, spanning 6,713 km and concluding in Mumbai on March 20 or 21, involving both bus and foot travel.
