High Court Denies Interim Relief for Kejriwal; Wife Teases Major Revelations on Excise Case

Sunita, the wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asserted that her husband was gearing up for a significant revelation regarding the alleged excise policy scam during his court appearance on Thursday. This declaration came amidst the Delhi High Court's refusal to intervene in his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

In response to Saxena's statement, AAP leader and Delhi cabinet minister Atishi referenced The Representation of the People Act, emphasizing the legal ramifications of a lawmaker's conviction. She questioned the basis of imposing President's Rule under such circumstances.

Atishi further speculated that Kejriwal's arrest might yield electoral advantages for AAP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, attributing it to a surge in public sympathy. She condemned Kejriwal's arrest as an unprecedented assault on democracy.

The day witnessed protests from both AAP and BJP, with each party vehemently opposing the other. BJP leaders demanded Kejriwal's resignation outside the Delhi assembly, while AAP legislators protested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AAP lawmakers, donning yellow T-shirts and 'Kejriwal' masks, convened at the Delhi Assembly to express solidarity with their leader. Amidst slogans and placards, they denounced Kejriwal's arrest as an attack on democracy.

During the Assembly session, AAP members vocally protested, demanding Kejriwal's release. The proceedings were adjourned amidst the chaos.

Earlier, in a digital briefing, Sunita Kejriwal affirmed that her husband would divulge details of the alleged liquor scam in court and provide evidence to support his claims.

Refusing to intervene in Kejriwal's arrest, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma scheduled the matter for final disposal on April 3, with no adjournments permitted.

In response to unfolding events, the opposition INDIA bloc announced a "maha rally" at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 to uphold the nation's interests and democracy.
