Delhi Election Dates Announced: Voting on February 5, Results on February 8

It gives the date for the issue of the Gazette Notification as January 10, makes the last date for making nominations as January 17, for scrutiny of the nominations on January 18, and for the withdrawal of the candidatures up to January 20.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Tuesday that February 5 will be the date for voting in the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly, and the results will be declared on February 8.

Before the elections would be completed the date is February 10.

Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, Election Commissioners of India, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu spoke at a press conference hosted at the Vigyan Bhawan Plenary Hall in the capital city.

According to CEC, the Delhi has a total of 70 constituencies that include 58 general constituencies and 12 SC ones across 11 districts. This adds up to a total number of 83.49 lakh male voters, 71.74 lakh female voters, and 25.89 lakh young voters, reaching the total number of 1.55 crore voters.

He also mentioned that total polling stations present in the National Capital are 13,033 out of which PwD and women-managed are 70 each.

He also informed that the Saksham App for PwD voters, Home Voting facilities for the senior citizens, and CVIGIL for complaints shall also be available there for redressing the grievances of the people.
The current tenure of Delhi Assembly concludes on February 23, and the entire election process has to be completed prior to that date.

Earlier on Monday, the ECI released a newly revised voter list for Delhi. According to the latest figures, Delhi’s voter base has grown significantly over the past two months.

As of October 2024, the number of voters stands at 1,53,57,529. However, after a summary revision, the number has gone up to 1,55,24,858, which means 1,67,329 new electorates by December 2024. The Commission has cautioned against the submission of false and fabricated documents for getting new voter ID.
