Congress Promises Rs 2,000 to Women, Gas Cylinders for Rs 500, and Caste Survey Among Seven Guarantees for Haryana

The party, at the helm for two successive terms in the state till 2014, promised LPG cylinders for Rs 500 each, jobs for two lakh youth, and 300 units of free electricity to each household, besides increasing old-age pension to Rs 6,000 per month and conducting a caste census.

Promising 'Seven Guarantees' including Rs 2,000 per month to women, a gas cylinder for Rs 500, besides a caste survey, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday unveiled the party's manifesto for all sections for the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections.

The party, at the helm for two successive terms in the state till 2014, promised LPG cylinders for Rs 500 each, jobs for two lakh youth, and 300 units of free electricity to each household, besides increasing old-age pension to Rs 6,000 per month and conducting a caste census.

The manifesto assured farmers that it would legally ensure a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

While delivering his remarks, Kharge said: "Other than these seven guarantees, named 'Saat Waade, Pakke Iraade', our 53-page manifesto will be explained in detail later in Chandigarh but these promises will surely be fulfilled by us.".

He said the manifesto would focus on welfare measures that would benefit families, empower women, and help the youth, strengthening social security and bringing a better deal for backward classes, farmers, and the poor.

Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, respectively, Haryana party chief Udai Bhan and Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa were present at the release of the manifesto event among others.

Earlier, state party chief Udai Bhan said a Congress government in Haryana would offer every woman above 18 years Rs 2,000 per month for empowerment. LPG gas cylinders at Rs 500, Rs 6,000 pension to senior citizens, restoration of the old-pension scheme, filling of two lakh vacant government jobs, and making Haryana drug-free were other promises.

We will provide free treatment of Rs 25 lakh besides free electricity units of 300 units, plots of 100 yards to poor families and legal MSP guarantee like the Chiranjeevi scheme in Rajasthan during Ashok Gehlot's time," he added.
