The Congress party, on Wednesday filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that the irregularities in the strength of the battery used for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the Haryana elections have also affected the outcome of the poll.
This would have caused some disparity in the results of the election, said the party.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said complaints from 20 constituencies have been filed with the Election Commission (EC), while seven have been written.
All EVMs should be locked and sealed until investigation is done properly, he said.
More grievances are being collated and submitted in the next 48 hours, added Khera.
The Congress party alleges that EVMs having 99 per cent charge showed the votes resulted in favor of the BJP, whereas those having a lesser charge level of between 60-70 per cent, showed Congress wins.
Reassuring the Congress that it will take in view of the complaints and look into the alleged tampering, the EC officials met with senior Congress leaders like Jairam Ramesh, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Udai Bhan Singh, Pawan Khera, K.C. Venugopal, Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken and others on Wednesday and put before them their concerns.
Just on Tuesday, on the day the poll results were declared, the party had aired doubts over the Haryana poll results and called it unacceptable.
"This result go against the public sentiments and ground realities," was what a jubilant BJP argued to prove that the party's sentiment was otherwise.
It emerged as the largest party in the state also, crossing the 50 per cent mark at 48 in a 90-member Assembly - higher than its performance of 40 in 2019. However, the Congress could win only 37 seats in the state.
The Haryana result was a surprise, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had also said while addressing the party.
He said, the party is assessing the public opinion. "After talking to our ground workers, getting complete information and verifying the facts, a detailed response will come from the party," he had said.
