Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi chief minister on September 17. Atishi then staked her claim to form a new government in the national capital.
The oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place at Raj Niwas and is likely to be low-key. According to a PTI report, party leaders Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Imran Hussain, who served as ministers in the erstwhile Kejriwal government, are likely to be retained. Two AAP MLAs are also likely to be inducted into the new Cabinet.
On 26-27 September, Atishi will prove the majority of her government in the Delhi Assembly in the session called.
The Kalkaji MLA, who has got 14 portfolios to her credit, among them, finance, education, and revenue were some of those holding the fort while Kejriwal was in jail.
"We have staked claim to form a new government. I will protect the interests of Delhi people," she told reporters after Kejriwal's meeting with the LG.
Delhi Police is likely to provide 'Z' category security cover to Atishi but it will be decided soon. Delhi Police deploys around 22 personnel in shifts in the security of 'Z' category protectee.
Atishi will be the third woman chief minister of Delhi after late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and late Congress leader Sheila Dikshit.
Atishi is the daughter of Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi. She has completed her school education from Springdales School, after which she graduated from St Stephen's College. She obtained her Master's degree from Oxford University.
