Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was officially arrested by the CBI on Wednesday in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam and subsequently presented before the Rouse Avenue Court.
After being interrogated by the CBI at Tihar Jail, permission was granted to produce CM Kejriwal in the special court.
In a related development, CM Kejriwal retracted his petition to the Supreme Court, which challenged the interim stay ordered by the Delhi High Court on his bail release in the associated money laundering case.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing the AAP leader, informed a Vacation Bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti that a new petition would be submitted to the Supreme Court in light of the Delhi High Court's recent decision to stay the trial court's order that granted bail to CM Kejriwal in the money laundering case.
While pronouncing the final judgment on a petition by ED, the Delhi High Court said that in the given case, all evidence claiming to be present at the trial court Vacation Bench has not been taken into consideration and that the ED, against the bail application, should have been granted an equal opportunity to argue.
