Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati Urge Bharat Ratna Recognition for Their Respective Leaders

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, and Mayawati, the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, are now advocating for the prestigious Bharat Ratna to be bestowed upon their respective political icons.

Akhilesh has specifically urged for the posthumous conferment of the Bharat Ratna on key figures of the social justice movement, including Ram Manohar Lohia, B P Mandal, Chaudhary Charan Singh, and Mulayam Singh Yadav. He emphasized that these leaders dedicated their lives to combatting social disparities and uplifting backward communities, Dalits, minorities, and the economically disadvantaged.

Commending the Modi government's decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on Bihar's prominent socialist leader, Karpoori Thakur, who ardently championed the cause of backward classes and earned the title of 'Jannayak' or the people's hero, Yadav expressed his approval.

On a parallel note, Mayawati has put forth her demand for the country's highest civilian honor to be granted to BSP founder Kanshi Ram. In a statement on X, Mayawati highlighted Kanshi Ram's unparalleled contribution to empowering Dalits and remarked that it is imperative to honor him with the Bharat Ratna, echoing the sentiments of the people.
