14 Opposition MPs Suspended from Parliament for Disrupting House Proceedings

Among those suspended from the lower house are Benny Behanan (Cong), VK Sreekandan(Cong), Mohammad Jawed(Cong), Manickam Tagore(Cong), Dean Kuriakose(Cong), Hibi Eden(Cong), TN. Prathapan(Cong), Jothimani Sennimalai(Cong), and, Ramya Haridas(Cong),PR Natarajan (CPM), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi(DMK), S Venkatesan(CPM).

Fourteen Members of Parliament from the Opposition were  suspended from the Lok Sabha, while one from the Rajya Sabha encountered the same fate today due to their disruptive behavior during House proceedings. This action followed a significant security breach in the parliament the previous day. However, the tally of suspended MPs decreased by one in the evening when the government revoked the suspension of DMK MP SR Parthiban, acknowledging that he was mistakenly included as he was absent from the House.

The suspended MPs comprised nine from the Congress, two from the CPM, one from the CPI, and one from the DMK.

Among those suspended from the lower house are Benny Behanan (Cong), VK Sreekandan(Cong), Mohammad Jawed(Cong), Manickam Tagore(Cong), Dean Kuriakose(Cong), Hibi Eden(Cong), TN. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien faced suspension from the Rajya Sabha for "unruly behavior" throughout the remainder of this session. Despite the suspension, O'Brien declined to leave the House, leading to the matter being forwarded to the House's Privileges Committee following a motion by the BJP's Piyush Goyal.

A security scare unfolded on Wednesday inside and outside Parliament, involving at least six individuals. Two men discreetly released smoke canisters within the House, while a man and a woman simultaneously deployed smoke canisters outside. All four individuals engaged in these activities have been apprehended, as well as a man and his wife who provided shelter to the culprits at their residence in Gurgaon.

The individuals involved in the incident within Parliament have been identified as Sagar Sharma, D Manoranjan, Neelam, and Amol Shinde. The resident of Gurgaon, where the suspects sought refuge, has been named as Vicky Sharma. Presently, a sixth individual remains at large and is being pursued by authorities.
