According to one of the most popular theories, the name for the day comes after a priest named St. Valentine. In the Roman empire of 270 AD, Emperor Claudius II Gothicus prohibited young men from marrying because he thought single men were more productive, dedicated towards their work, and also better soldiers at war, so he banned youngsters of his empire from getting married. Saint Valentine, the priest of that time defied the emperor's orders tried to help couples getting married secretly who were in love. He facilitated the wedding of lovers and the ones who wanted to get married, for this reason, Saint was beheaded by the Emperor. Some also suggest that he married couples to spare the males from the war. The day from then is celebrated as Valentine's Day every year till date to spread love. Every year around the world Valentine's week or love calendar starts from February 07 and lasts till February 14. The last day of the love week is 14th February which is celebrated as Valentine's Day. This love time is celebrated for 7 days.
