Tough times ahead, trade cautiously
The broader indices saw BSE100, BSE200 and BSE500 lose 3.21 per cent, 3.22 per cent and 3.18 per cent, respectively. While BSEMIDCAP was down 4.53 per cent, BSESMALLCAP lost 2.75 per cent. In sectoral indices, just BSEIT and BSETECK saw upticks while everything else was down. The BFSI space was badly hit and many of the stocks in this sector suffered huge losses.
Saudi ban on Tablighi Jamaat: A reality check
The manner in which the story was reported mostly, based on a series of tweets from the official Twitter handle of the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Ash-Shaikh, made it look like that the Indian Tablighi Jamaat has been banned by the Saudi government from carrying out its Tabligh and Dawah activities.

Joe Biden and fellow leaders announced initiatives to stem autocracies from misusing big tech to stifle dissent, enhance election integrity, bolster independent media and other modest efforts that the president said would "seed fertile ground for democracies to bloom around the world". But he also acknowledged that he path ahead was difficult for democracies amid a rise of authoritarianism around the globe. Earlier that day, the first 2+2 meeting at the Ministerial level was held in addition to separate bilateral meetings, respectively, between the Foreign and Defence Ministers of both countries. Given the complications of the Covid pandemic, the restoration of physical meetings at the Summit level, after a gap of two years, is significant in its own right.
