Nitish Kumar Reddy, the Indian find in Australia who saw India win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, climbed on his knees on the ancient path to Tirumala that originates from Alipiri in the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh. The all-rounder shared his spiritual journey in the video to his Instagram story late on Monday night.
In the viral video, Nitish Kumar Reddy was seen climbing stairs on his knees, while using his hands to pull through his body. In another photo, Nitish was seen standing in the footsteps of the temple with a big smile on his face.
Popular belief says that this path is where devotees climb on foot to reach Tirumala from Tirupati, fulfilling their vows. It measures 3550 Steps and goes for 12 km.
Nitish shines in Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Nitish was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing outing for India in Australia, where they lost 1-3. The 21-year-old, who had no prior red-ball experience at his level, played all five Tests in Australia and emerged as one of India's highest scorers despite batting as low as No.8 for the most part.
Nitish had made a huge impact in the series by scoring 298 runs and thus attained an average of 37.25, which positioned him as India's second-highest scorer.
His best match came at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he had celebrated his maiden Test hundred with a stellar performance of 114 runs.
The moment was especially memorable, considering it came when the Indian batting line-up was going through a tough phase and also because he got to share this with his family-father Mutyalu Reddy, mother Manasa, sister Tejaswi, and uncle Surendra.
With some helpful contributions with ball, too; five wickets in 44 overs, for the best spell of 2 for 32, Nitish's batting abilities were not anything to write about.
Nitish's heroics in Australia almost made him find an easy place in India T20I squad for their five-match home series against England on January 22.
