According to Buffett, building relationships with admirable and inspiring individuals contributes not just to career success, but also to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. “You’ll not only learn how to be successful in business, you’ll learn how to be successful in life,” he emphasized.

He urged young people to pursue their passion, telling them to work at something that they would happily do without pay. "What you're really looking for in life is something where you've got a job that you'd hold, but you didn't need the money," Buffett said, noting that he had been blessed to feel that way for most of his own career.

Meanwhile, Buffett cautioned against keeping company with individuals or institutions that require moral compromise. "You don't want to be with folks or businesses that cause you to do something you shouldn't be doing," he warned.

Reflecting back on his own experience, Buffett told the tale of an informal meeting with a mentor that completely altered the trajectory of his life. "I discovered within 10 minutes a man who would be simply absolutely helpful to me," he reminisced. Buffett is convinced friendships founded on good intentions and sound ethics will continue to reap a rich dividend in the long run: "There is a compounding of good intentions and good behaviour."

Finally, Buffett linked his vision for success and happiness to general well-being. "A happy person lives longer than someone who's doing things they don't really admire that much in life," he smiled. "And for some reason, I apparently live longer too.
