The Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi has experienced a significant surge in donations and pilgrim visits over the recent months.
Official reports indicate a remarkable increase in temple revenue during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. Income from offerings and donations at Kashi Vishwanath Dham has risen by 24.66%, accompanied by a 45.76% increase in the number of devotees.
This upturn can be attributed in part to the inauguration of a new corridor at Kashi Dham by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2021. This corridor has not only facilitated easier movement of pilgrims from the ghats to the temple but has also enhanced accessibility for global pilgrims.
The ongoing expansion and modernization of the temple complex have resulted in improved facilities and ample space for devotees seeking darshan of Lord Shiva.
Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, CEO of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, reported a substantial rise in visitor numbers from over 2 crore in the first half of 2023 to approximately 3.34 crore in the same period of 2024. Similarly, temple earnings have surged from 38.29 crore in 2023 to 47.74 crore in the first half of 2024.
