YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who is now in the spotlight over remarks he made on a comedy event, has ignored a second summons from Mumbai's Khar Police. Police are investigating his provocative comments on an episode of India's Got Latent, a show hosted by fellow video producer Samay Raina.
Allahbadia's residence in Andheri was found to be locked when Khar Police and Assam Police officers arrived there on Friday. The original plan was for him to make his statement that day, but he didn't. In response, Assam Police sent a notice at his residence telling him to come in shortly to be questioned. At the time, they were also investigating on their own.
Allahbadia petitioned the Supreme Court on Friday to shield him from any coercive actions by investigative authorities in the face of growing legal pressure. He entered a plea contesting several FIRs that were filed against him in accordance with Article 32 of the Constitution. Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna declined to postpone the urgent hearing when the appeal was made, saying, "We have already given a date of listing." Please don't discuss it verbally.
The dispute began when a footage from India's Got Latent featuring Allahbadia's remarks about parents and sex went viral and generated a great deal of outrage. He and other show performers became the focus of numerous complaints in Guwahati and Mumbai after public outrage.
The police have interviewed seven persons so far, including popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, content creator Apoorva Makhija, and the father of Balraj Singh Ghai, who runs The Habitat Studio, where the show was filmed.
Among those interviewed was Tushar Pujari, the studio's chief programmer and production manager, who testified alongside three other employees. According to sources, Pujari, who was responsible for selecting the contestants, stated that he had only 14 individuals on his shortlist. He continued by explaining that these individuals participated in the show and that the final winner was determined by the judges' scores.
