The India Meteorological Department released a weather bulletin by Saturday afternoon in which it said that there would be a widespread rainfall over southern and western India during the next one week. A similar trend has been forecast for the national capital city of Delhi as well as the northwestern states of the country. Here are the details of what the IMD said in its bulletin.
South Peninsular India:
- Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Coastal Karnataka, and Interior Karnataka with, at times, isolated to scattered showers likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Rayalaseema, and Telangana in the remainder of this week.
- Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely to occur over Kerala & Mahe during 24th-30th August 2020, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 24th, Telangana on 24th and 25th, Coastal Karnataka during 27th-30th August 2020, North Interior Karnataka during 25th-30th August 2020, and South Interior Karnataka on 25th, 29th, and 30th August.
- Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are also likely over Coastal Karnataka during 24th-26th August; North Interior Karnataka on 24th & South Interior of the state on 24 th August.
- West and Central India:
- Fairly widespread light to moderate falls with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over West & Central India during the week.
- Heavy rains are likely in the isolated places of Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Saurashtra & Kutch during August 24-29; Marathwada on August 24-25; Vidarbha on August 24-25; Chhattisgarh on August 24, and the Region of Gujarat from August 24-28. It is also likely that there will be isolated very heavy rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, all taking place.
- Isolated heavy falls likely over M&GRE, S & K during the next three days and over Tripura and Mizoram.
- Widespread light to moderate rain will most likely prevail over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan, while the weather agencies expect isolated to scattered rainfall in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Rajasthan during the week.
- Excess rainfall is very likely to hit all these places with isolated heavy falls over Delhi and Haryana on the 27th-28th of August and Punjab, Himachal Pradesh on the 24th of August, Uttarakhand on the 24th and again the 28th of August, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh on the 24th and 25th of August, and Rajasthan on 24th August to 26th. Isolated heavy falls are also very likely over West Rajasthan on 25th August and East Rajasthan on the 24th and 26th of August.
- Isolated extremely heavy falls are also very likely over East Rajasthan on 25th August.
- Fairly widespread to widespread with light to moderate rainfall activity very likely over East & Northeast India for rest of the week.
- Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 27th August; West Bengal & Sikkim on 26th August; Bihar on 26th and 27th August; Jharkhand from 24th to 27th August; Odisha on 26th August; Arunachal Pradesh on 24th, 28th, 29th, and 30th August; and Assam & Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura throughout the week.
