Thomas Kurian, an Indian American business executive, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google Cloud. He has been serving as the CEO of Google Cloud since 2019. Before joining Google Cloud, he worked at McKinsey & Company for nearly six years and later joined Oracle as President.
Thomas Kurian started his career with McKinsey & Company as a consultant serving clients in the software, telecommunications, and financial services industries for 6 years in London and Brussels. In september 1996, he joined Oracle. He worked as Vice President of Oracle's e-Business division and later worked as President of Product Development. Also he served as a member of Oracle’s Executive Committee for 13 years. But on September 28, 2018 Kurian resigned as president of product development at Oracle.
In 2010, he was the 18th highest-paid man in the US and the 5th highest-paid tech executive in 2010, according to CNN.
In November 2018, Thomas Kurian joined Google cloud organization, in his first year with Google Kurian focused on selling G Suite applications to enterprise clients.
Thomas was born in 1996 in Pampady village of Kottayam district in Kerala to P.C. Kurian and his wife Molly. His father was a chemical engineer and the general manager of Graphite India. Thomas Kurian is one among 4 brothers including his twin George Kurian, CEO of NetApp. Thomas alongwith George Kurian studied at St Joseph's Boys High School in Bengaluru and later took admission in IIT Madras. They both took SAT tests and sent the results to various colleges, including Princeton University, which offered both of them partial scholarship places. When Thomas was 17, he with his brother George moved to the United States and graduated from Princeton with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, from which he graduated summa cum laude. He also completed his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
