Safra Catz: From A Banker Oracle CEO

In 2020, Forbes ranked her on the 16th position for America's Self-Made Women as well as 19th on the list of power women in 2019. As per an Equilar analysis published by Fortune, she was the highest-paid woman among Fortune 1000 companies in 2011, receiving a total remuneration of nearly $51.5 million. According to Forbes, her net worth is $1.2 Billion.

Born in Holon Israel on December 1, 1961, and brought up in America, Catz is one of the powerful businesswomen of America. Her parents decided to make a shift to America when Catz was 6-year-old.
Catz pursued her graduation from Brookline High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and a Juris Doctors degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1986.

After she graduated from college, she started her career working on the post of managing director of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. She rose quickly in the ranks. By 1994 she was the senior vice president of the bank.

She has been a very vocal supporter of US President Donald Trump and she has been promoting the tax reforms. She has served in President Donald Trump's transition team. Media outlets mentioned her as a potential official in the Trump administration. This proves her a woman who is a multi-tasker, as she simultaneously managed her responsibilities as Oracle’s CEO and team member of Donald Trump's Transition.

Catz joined Oracle in April 1999 as the senior vice president, and in October 2001, she became a member of the company’s Board of Directors. She became the President of Oracle Corporation in early 2004 and captained Oracle’s 2005 acquisition of software rival PeopleSoft in a $10.3 billion takeover.

In 2010, Mark Hurd joined her as Co-President, and in 2014, both of them became the new Co-CEOs for the company following the stepping down of Founder and CEO Larry Ellison. Mark Hurd stepped down later and Catz became the only CEO of the company. Catz is now tasked with overseeing finance, manufacturing, and legal operations, and is holding the fort at a time when Oracle is further expanding its operations in Romania beyond the capital city of Bucharest.
Catz is a multitasking lady and she has served as a Director of PeopleSoft Inc. since December 30, 2004, and Stellent Inc. since December 2006. She has also been an independent non-executive director of Hyperion Solutions Corp. since April 2007, and most recently, a member of the executive council of TechNet since March 2013.
