Neal Mohan: Know the new India-origin CEO of YouTube

Mohan is an Indian-American businessman who started his career by working at Accenture and after some time he joined a startup 'Net Gravity'. He worked hard for the company and became the key figure in its operations and helped in expanding the company. In the year 1997, DoubleClick Acquired Net Gravity and Mohan worked there as the Vice president of its business operations.

Neal Mohan has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of video sharing platform YouTube. YouTube is owned by the Google and it’s the 2nd most visited search engine after Google Search. Soon after Susan Wojcicki stepped down, Neal became the CEO of the company on 16th of February 2023.

After 10 years, DoubleClick was acquired by the Google in the year 2007 and Susan Wojcicki was Google’s executive while Neal Mohan formally joined Google in 2007 and worked 15 years with her. Many companies like Twitter and Facebook tried to hire him but he stayed with Google whereas in the year 2010, Mohan arranged the acquisition of Invite Media by the Google.

In 2015, Neal joined YouTube as its Chief product officer and with his efforts towards the development of the company and helped in arranging many big releases by the YouTube between 2010 and 2020 like YouTube Music, YouTube TV, YouTube Premium and YouTube Shorts. Mohan as a CPO of the company worked and helped in the growth of YouTube and in the year 2023, Susan Wojcicki resigned from her position as YouTube’s CEO and Neal Mohan took over his place as the CEO.

Neal Mohan was born in the year 1975/1976 in Lucknow, India. After completing his schooling, Mohan went to Stanford University and earned graduation degree in Electrical Engineering. Mohan is married to Hema Sareen Mohan.
