Lakshman Das Mittal: Meet the founder and chairman of Sonalika Group

Lakshman Das Mittal is the founder and chairman of Sonalika Group, popularly known as Sonalika Tractors, India's third-largest tractor manufacturing company. Mittal started the company in 1970, and at the age of 92, he is the second-oldest billionaire in India. As of April 2023, according to Forbes, Lakshman Das Mittal has a net worth of $2.5 billion.

At the age of his retirement, Mittal started his own business and worked hard for its development. After retiring from the LIC company, he gave his full focus to the growth of his company. With Lakshman's guidance and efforts, the Sonalika Group started to grow rapidly, and now it has become India's third-largest tractor manufacturing company by market share.

In 2022, Mittal was ranked at the 82nd place in India's richest person list by Forbes, and in 2023, he is at 1242nd place in Forbes' World's Billionaires list. Lakshman Mittal has handed over the leadership of the company to his sons, Amrit Sagar Mittal and Deepak Mittal.

Lakshman Das Mittal was born in August 1931 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. After completing his schooling, Mittal earned a Master of Arts degree in English and Urdu from Punjab University. As per his family background, Mittal is a widower, and he has five children.
