Actor and rapper Will Smith is all geared up to star in the high-octane action thriller 'Sugar Bandits'. As per Variety, the movie is an adaptation of Chuck Hogan's novel 'Devils in Exile' about an Iraq War veteran who aligns with a group of other vets and embarks on a mission to take down the narcotics trade in Boston.

According to Variety, Smith and Jon Mone will produce through Westbrook Studios with Ryan Shimazaki overseeing; Stuart Ford will produce for AGC Studios, which is fully financing the film; and Richard Abate will produce for 3 Arts Entertainment.
'Sugar Bandits' is Smith's latest feature film. 'Emancipation', directed by Antoine Fuqua, was his last big feature and the first since his infamous Oscars slap. It sold to Apple TV+ for a record market price of $120 million at Cannes, but didn't make quite the splash one might have hoped for upon release. Along with the forthcoming Zombie smash film 'I Am Legend', in which he co-stars with Michael B Jordan, Smith is set to reprise his 2007 role and has the fourth, as-yet-untitled 'Bad Boys' movie in the pipeline.

The project, previously titled 'Sugar Bandits' was first announced back in 2013 with Universal developing the feature. Smith is repped by CAA. Hogan is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment. The European Film Market runs from February 15-21, alongside the Berlin Film Festival which kicks off February 15 with the world premiere of 'Small Things Like These' starring Cillian Murphy, reported Variety.
