Selena Gomez recently had a humorous and messy moment with her fiancé, music producer Benny Blanco, in a popular Instagram clip in which he tried to do her makeup. But as Billboard indicates, Blanco's studio prowess did not necessarily translate to the world of beauty.
In the video, the Only Murders in the Building star gave Blanco free rein over her Rare Beauty products. Things got off to a shaky start when he knocked the camera over while applying pressed powder. However, after some adjustments, Gomez surprisingly complimented him, saying, “That’s good, babe! Now I’m proud.”
The actual trouble began when Blanco grabbed a pigmented liquid bronzer, causing Selena to close her eyes in terror as he questioned, "What is that called? What am I contouring?" His attempt at blending went awry as he applied too much product on her face, causing a string of grimaces from Gomez.
A few coats of liquid blush, highlighter, and lip oil later, Blanco was admiring his handiwork, proudly declaring, "I think it looks pretty good. You look so hot." Selena's face at the end indicated she didn't quite share his opinion, but at least they had a good time. Even Rare Beauty's official Instagram account got in on the joke, posting, "@bennyblanco you're hired."
While Blanco's makeup abilities can use improvement, the pair has been more successful working together musically. Their collaborative album I Said I Love You First drops on March 21 and includes 14 songs, including already released singles Scared of Loving You and Call Me When You Break Up with Gracie Abrams. Gomez recently revealed the complete tracklist for the album.
The two, who started dating over summer 2023, became engaged a year and a half later when Blanco asked the singer-actress to marry him.
